Captivating A-Frame Homes

What is the magnetic charm of an A-Frame design? It pulls you in with a sense of wonder and curiosity.

However, A-Frame house plans are not created equal. I learned my lesson when I spent the weekend in an airbnb A-Frame. Yikes. The narrow stairs could not handle a suitcase-laden tourist. Plus, you had to hold on for dear life just to get to bed. The second floor ceiling impacted the first floor so dramatically that I could barely manage to occupy the space with my wife. There was definitely a 2 person limit! And it was probably better for a bachelor.

So! When I got back home to my drawing table, I was fresh with new ideas of how to resolve a small A Frame house plan! That’s what I did. When you look in from the outside, you don’t see all the functionality problems… but you don’t have to worry about that with our design: it’s charming and functional! Take a look.

Our A-frame model was inspired by an airbnb weekend spent in Ocean City Maryland. It had some unacceptable functional problems.

The stairs were too narrow to negotiate without holding on for dear life, let alone transport a suitcase to the second floor. The ceiling on the first floor intruded into the living space such that maximum occupancy was limited to two persons. We also foresaw that the rafters were uninsulated, making cold weather comfort impossible.

Our model plan solved these issues and is now appropriate for construction in the mountains, as well as a sunny seashore property. DHP can make modifications to imperfect plans from other sources to correct code defects and living functionality.
